Specialist finishes enrich your interaction with paper products.
Have you ever held a book in your hand and wondered at the luxurious texture of the cover? Have you run your fingers over the glossy image that contrasts sharply with the matte background? Have you noticed the metallic glint on the title and felt how it bulges out slightly from the rest of the cover?
All these “special effects” are called finishes. They are added to the paper either during or after the printing process and are designed to enhance the completed product, be it a book cover, a business card or a presentation folder, among others.
Jetline offers a wide range of specialist finishes – speak to us to find out what is possible.

Die Cutting

Die Cutting
Die-cutting is, in very basic terms, the use of custom-shaped blades to cut through paper, board or other substrates. These cutting dies make elaborately shaped wedding invitations, intricate patterns cut into business cards or books cover, and fancy packaging boxes possible. The guillotines used in our factories can only cut in straight lines. Curved cuts are done with a die. As dies would have to be custom-made for your print job, the cost of the die is included in your quote. While die-cutting adds to the overall cost of your print job, it allows you to make a big impact with custom shapes and cut-outs.

Encapsulation

Jetline Logo
Encapsulation is the total encasement of a single-sheet paper product between two sheets of hard-wearing plastic film. Often used for posters that need to withstand the elements in an outdoor environment, or for posters in a high-traffic area like school corridors, malls or public facilities, encapsulation protects the paper from getting wet or dirty. Restaurants often use encapsulation for their menus, because encapsulated menus are easy to wipe clean and sanitise. Many companies also use encapsulated notices in their office spaces to convey internal information to staff. Other encapsulated items include bookmarks, dry-erase planners and reusable dry-erase activity cards for school children.

Lamination

Lamination
Lamination is the process of applying a super-fine layer of plastic to paper or card sheets to enhance and protect the printed matter. This plastic coating is bonded with your print’s surface to give it a scratch-proof, resilient finish. Your print will last longer and stay looking fresh-from-the-press for ages. We often apply lamination to packaging, book covers, brochures, business cards and other printed items. Opt for gloss lamination if you would like a colourful, vibrant, shiny finish to your print. For a low surface shine and a dense, subtle finish, choose matt lamination. Double-sided lamination is often applied to business cards, while greeting cards are most often laminated on the outside only, so one can still write on the inside.

Litho Printing

Litho Printing
Litho printing, also called lithographic printing, offset printing or offset lithography, enables fast, reliable and affordable printing and produces the bulk of mass printing production used by businesses and organizations of all types. Lithographic printing operates on the simple principle that ink and water don’t mix. The oil-based ink representing the art and text of your design are transferred to water-dampened metal plates by rollers on the press. The ink is then transferred to a rubber cylinder (also called a blanket”) and then onto the paper as it passes around the blanket. The greatest advantages of traditional offset printing are a higher quality finish and better cost-effectiveness for quantities over a few hundred, especially high volume quantities. Jetline’s state-of-the-art Heidelberg presses are capable of producing up to 18 000 sheets per hour or 300 sheets per minute.
